The  slopes of the N-634 coastal road between Zarautz and Zumaia are formed by alternating hard and soft rock strata, which generate overhangs that are susceptible to breakage and falling. In May 2022, a field campaign was carried out to survey these slopes in order to obtain the geometry and area of these overhangs. Due to the fact that a large part of the slopes have already been intervened with measures such as dynamic barriers, which make the survey difficult, different geomatics techniques had to be combined: photogrammetry, both terrestrial and from RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) and terrestrial laser scanners. All the information has been georeferencing using GNSS.

This information will be combined with joint characterisation based on both 3D point cloud analysis and existing data from previous field campaigns (Mavrouli et al 2019), to obtain joint orientation and location. Later characterisation and geometry will be used to define potential unstable volumes.

These data, together with the historical frequency and magnitude of events for this road section stretch road, will be the basis for further analysis.
